Todos los días, muchas personas se desplazan desde Sarapiquí o Guápiles a trabajar o estudiar a San José. Por ese motivo, el Consejo Nacional de Vialidad les recuerda a los usuarios de la vía que se trabaja en una rehabilitación en la ruta 32 que implica algunas esperas para quienes circulan por ella.
Las citas médicas también forman parte de los motivos que hacen que los usuarios de la ruta 32 deban pasar por el sector del parque nacional Braulio Carrillo y se encuentren con trabajos en la vía. Las labores se ejecutan entre las 6 de la mañana y las 3 de la tarde, de lunes a domingo.
En el Consejo se solicita a los usuarios que valoren estos trabajos en sus tiempos de traslado e inicien su recorrido antes de lo normal.
Estas obras se realizan entre el puente Virilla en Tibás y el río Sucio, a lo largo de unos 32 kilómetros. Actualmente, se trabaja desde el río Sucio hacia San José y se busca darle una vida útil de 10 años a este tramo de carretera.
En algunos sectores ya se labora en la colocación de la segunda capa de mezcla asfáltica y en otros se colocará la primera. Incluso, en sectores como el comprendido entre Doña Lela y el puesto de peaje, las labores se concluyeron totalmente a finales del año anterior.
Esta será la primera vez en la historia de esta carretera, que atraviesa el parque Braulio Carrillo y une la capital con la provincia de Limón, en la que se colocará pintura termoplástica, que es una especie de resina que se coloca a altas temperaturas, bajo condiciones de cero humedad y que tiene una vida útil de hasta 5 años.
Todos lo sitios en los que se colocó carpeta asfáltica se están demarcando a nivel básico con pintura solvente, para que sirva de guía a los usuarios, mientras se coloca la siguiente capa de mezcla asfáltica o se demarca con pintura termoplástica, según el caso, acotaron en el CONAVI.

Estos trabajos en la ruta Braulio Carrillo incluyen modificaciones en la mezcla asfáltica que sirve de superficie de ruedo, ya que en el primer tramo entre Tibás y el peaje se pasará de 7 cm de espesor de mezcla asfáltica existente a 17 cm, 15 cm de mezcla asfáltica con polímero, un aditivo que mejora la vida útil de la carretera, y 2 cm de mezcla asfáltica convencional (existente).
Asimismo, en el segundo tramo, entre el peaje y el río Sucio, también hay un cambio significativo a nivel de superficie de ruedo, al pasar de 12 cm de mezcla asfáltica (existente), la cual se conservará, más otros 11,5 cm de mezcla asfáltica con polímeros.
En total, en este proyecto se invierten ¢7.600 millones, mediante los contratos de Conservación de Vías y Puentes del CONAVI.
