Ixcanul llega este jueves a las salas ticas

El 5 de mayo es la fecha del ansiado estreno en Costa Rica del largometraje Guatemalteco Ixcanul, el cual viene precedido por un histórico número de reconocimientos internacionales.
A la fecha la cinta ha acumulado unos 40 premios internacionales, entre los cuales se destaca el Oso de Plata obtenido en la edición 2015 de la Berlinale, el día de su estreno.
Además de Berlín, la película cosechó premios en festivales de México, Colombia, Francia, República Dominicana, Cracovia, Eslovaquia, Italia, Armenia, Perú, Noruega, Canadá, Bélgica, Ecuador, Cuba, Guatemala, Austria, Siberia y los Estados Unidos.
Ixcanul trata sobre una joven maya de 17 años que vive en las faldas de un volcán en Guatemala. Ella decide tomar control sobre su destino aunque el precio a pagar sea muy alto.
“El estreno de Ixcanul en Costa Rica era imperante, tomando en cuenta la altísima calidad del filme y su relevancia a nivel mundial. Nos sentimos orgullosos de poder seguir trayendo al país el mejor cine internacional y más aún si este es realizado en nuestros propios países”, comentó Karina Avellán, de la distribuidora Pacífica Grey.
Costa Rica es el segundo país de la región que estrena el filme, después de Guatemala. Aquí se podrá ver en el Cine Magaly, Cinépolis Terramall, CCM Plaza Mayor, Novacinemas Alajuela (Plaza Real Alajuela), y dos salas más que aún están por confirmar.
María Mercedes Coroy, protagonista de la película, es la mujer maya más joven en recibir 3 premios por su interpretación, y será la invitada especial el día del estreno en nuestro país.
El viernes 6 de mayo, María Mercedes Coroy tendrá un conversatorio con estudiantes en el auditorio del Instituto de Investigación en Educación (INIE) de la Universidad de Costa Rica. La actividad está programada a las a las 3 p.m. y es abierta al público.
Finalmente, el viernes 8 de mayo, en las salas de Cinépolis Terramall, la actriz asistirá a la función de las 8 p.m.; una vez concluida la proyección conversará con los asistentes.
